ASIS Program

Our young people will face a very different and challenging future. Employers are saying that universities and colleges do not prepare graduates well for the workforce.

Research shows that many jobs will be taken over by software automation. Good universities are looking at different types of applicants. Grades alone will not matter. Maturity, confidence and evidence of achievement in life on the other hand will.

The ASIS Junior College is a very different high school. At ASIS, learning is all about inspiring the learner not only to learn but to be aware and skilled enough to develop themselves. We do not just teach here. Instead, we coach, stimulate, provoke and engage. We understand that each learner learns differently. So, we engage with each learner to draw upon his or her talents and interests. We are preparing them for a brighter future.

THE IB DIPLOMA PROGRAM AT ASIS

In the high school years (JC1 and JC2), ASIS will adopt the International Baccalaureate or the IB Diploma Program (IBDP). Among the many high school qualifications around the globe, the IBDP has earned its reputation as being among the most challenging and broadest in focus.

The program designed to provide students of different linguistic, cultural and educational backgrounds with the intellectual, social and critical perspectives necessary for the adult world that lies ahead.

The IB is different from other curricula because it:

  • Encourages learners to think critically and challenge what they are told.
  • Is independent and incorporates best practice from many curricula.
  • Encourages young people to consider both their local and international environment.
THE ASIS IB DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (IBDP)

The IBDP involves the study of six subjects; three subjects at Higher Level (HL) in greater depth and three at Standard Level (SL). In addition to this learners must do the following

  • Theory of Knowledge (TOK) assists leanrers to look at knowledge and learning from different perspectives.
  • Extended Essay (EE) – this component requires learners to independently select and research a topic of their choice, drawing from their studies and synthesizing new sources. The essays often result in the production of first-year university level work.
  • Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) moves their learning outside the classroom into the larger community. At all levels of the school, we provide an exceptional opportunity for our young people to develop independence and leadership skills.

The ASIS JC Program also builds qualities needed for the 21st century through our PACE initiative.

P
Perseverance

We help our learners to understand how to innovate in adversity and persevere. We work with them very closely along their journey towards their own goal.

A
Analytical Thinking

Learners are explicitly taught how to analyse before solving problems. They test predictions and generate solutions. They learn to plan, prioritize and act.

C
Communication/Collaboration

Learners are given opportunities to explicitly learn and practice how to work in teams. They learn about effective collaboration and communication skills.

E
Entrepreneurism

ASIS learners will apply their knowledge across many disciplines. They will be exposed to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and be coached towards gaining the entrepreneurial spirit.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT PROGRAM

For learners who are still working towards the expectations of the subject, ASIS has an Academic Support Program, where the subject teacher will give individual support and attention to the learner outside of curriculum time.

PARENTS AND SCHOOLS AS PARTNERS

We encourage parents to provide feedback on our learner’s experiences and emotions. We then work with parents to enhance and reinforce their learning to ensure our children are always having fun learning both in school and at home.

LEADERSHIP AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

There are opportunities to participate in activities such as Model United Nations as well as other relevant conferences. The ASIS internship program aims to provide practical experience to our young people. Learners will have the opportunity to undertake a placement in any of the different sectors (e.g. hotels, hospitals, automobile industry). Upon completing their internship, they will be awarded internship certifications from the school to enhance their career portfolio.

UNIVERSITY GUIDANCE PROGRAMME

Our university-guidance program provides support for learners in their decision making and application process for universities or colleges in the country of their choice. In addition to individual counselling, there are several workshops and presentations that will be run by our University Advisors for learners and parents, to help in planning and making decisions around university choice.

Note: THE JUNIOR COLLEGE COURSES WILL BE OFFERED FROM THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2022 - 23
